A visit Scotland location, Tantallon is a fantastic example of Scottish Castles. There is a visitors entrance and shop where you buy your tickets and onsite toilets, as well as accessible carparks. The Castle is a short walk away and dog friendly.
You can explore the many rooms and towers of the castle ruin and gaze out at the Firth of Forth, Bass Rock and various other sites. Loads of birds and wildlife. There is a small museum located in the ruins, with some unaccessible also, due to renovation works.
But watch your step as the many staircases can be treacherous and are not for the faint-hearted.
Once your done you can nip down to Seacliff beach for another walk or head over to the drift cafe just down the road.

Fantastic castle majestically situated on cliffs facing Bass Rock.
Mostly ruined but you can still get up to the battlements on the 3rd level for a fantastic view.
Must see if you’re anywhere nearby… like Edinburgh 👍🏻

Dit is met zeer grote voorsprong mijn favoriete Schotse ruïne. Elke wandeling richting de grote poort geeft me kippenvel omdat ik weet wat er achter schuilt. Het is geweldig om je op de bankjes te zetten met zicht op zeer. Al sinds kinds af aan probeer ik me telkens in te beelden hoe het leven hier geweest moet zijn en maak ik er in mijn hoofd een sprookje van. Het is hier altijd zeer rustig en simpelweg genieten van deze pracht.

Cool castle ruins with not a lot of foot traffic however it could use some more information throughout the site. Considering the admission fee they charge I'm surprised they try to sell you an additional brochure of information...

Beautiful old castle, well preserved, worth the entry fee. Get there early before the crowds.
